Darling Harbour and Sydney Aquarium - 1/8

We were to go to the beach today, but today's high was to be in the low 70's.  After yesterday temps, we thought that a little cold for playing in the ocean.  So plans changed and we got on the train and headed back into the city.  We take the train into the city - it is cheaper and you don't have to worry about parking.  Grace is learning her cat's cradle and
other string figures.  She gets better on every train ride.

We got off the train and walked to Darling Harbour and headed for the Sydney Aquarium.  We were going to have a sit down lunch, but instead ate standing in the que for our tickets.  We ate meat pies and wraps and shared a coke.  The Aquarium was newly redone and had wonderful exhibits.  The above is a Dujong and he was eating his lunch of lettuce.  He swam right over our heads - thus the picture.  We saw lots of beautiful, ugly, interesting and   fascinating creatures of the sea.  Lance loved "Nemo" and "Dorey" and that proved to be an important point by the end of the day.  We all had a great time.

Leaving the aquarium we found ourselves in Darling Harbour.  For some reason there was a huge rubber duck there.  He was pretty impressive.

We walked to the children's park where Dale could not believe the play equipment - many of which would not be permitted in the USA.  Rope climbs, flying fox swings, and water creeks with dams and gates to alter flow were among those.  Of course all the kids loved them.  We saw 2 children in their birthday suits - one was at least 5 if not older, the other about 3.  They were having a good time.  You can see Grace and Lance in the forefront of the above picture.  Other than losing their shoes they stayed dressed.

As we watched them play we noticed that they were showing "night owl" movies for children at 6:45.  Who would quess - the movie tonight was "Finding Nemo".  If was free with seating on the grass.  Sign us up.  We found our spot, bought Thai food and sushi, ate and watched the kids dance and sing before the movie started.  What fun to watch that movie in Sydney and seeing Nemo and Dorey at the aquarium.  We all enjoyed it and then packed up and headed home.
