Featherdale and dessert

We started our day early by driving to Featherdale Wildlife Park.  By getting their early, we were able to feed the kangroos while they were still hungry.  Cynthia and I found one that was very hungry and Dale had 3 going after his food.  It was hay that was in an ice cream cone and they would use their front paws to hold on to it as you fed them.

They are adorable.

This one would stand for us and Jim showed us where the pouch was so we all put our fingers in it - so soft - great home for a joey.

This is a wombat- not Cynthia's favorite, but kind of cute.

They brought out a diamond head python and you can see who wanted to hold it and who didn't.  Grace thought it was cool,  Lance liked it and I don't know about Dale.

Rather Dale than Marty

Tawny Frogmouth - took this for Solon - his favorite.  He kissed him on the beak last winter
when he was here.

Koala - they are precious and look like stuffed animals.  They sleep up to 20 hours a day, are very soft and we got to pet them.

Jim and Cynthia liked this one.

Look at that cute nose - he was just hanging out.  They have a "plate" above their little bums so they can sit in the trees and not get sore or backaches.

Sound asleep.

An echidna - cute little guy.  This one was running.

Macaw said hello to us when we walked by.  We tried to get her to say other things, but we just got lots of hellos.

Saw the croc during feeding time.  They fed him half a rabbit.  He was very interesting to watch and he seemed very hungry.  450 kg (about half a ton), 20 feet long and about 40 years old.

Finally jumped up and got his rabbit.  See Jim over the fence right in front of him.

There are only 1000 cassowaries left - must be a cousin of the emu.

Little penguins - absolutely adorable.

Marty was standing with her back to the goat who decided to take a bit out of her "passport" to see the animals.  The corner was gone in a flash and yes he ate it.

A last good-bye!

We went to a Thai restaurant for dinner and then out for chocolate.  It was wonderful and these 2 certainly liked it.
