Change of plans for a Saturday

February 16, 2013 - Saturday   We were going to go to the beach today, but Grace slept until  close to 10:00 and obviously needed the sleep.  The weather was also cool and not real sunny, so we changed our plans.  Lance and Josh made pancakes for breakfast and they were delicious.  Then we picked Josh and Raquels brains about Melbourne as we fly there on Monday.

Lance folding his pancakes so they will be light and fluffy.

Grace was feeling better so we decided to work on a project.  We had given her a sewing kit for Christmas as Raquel said she wanted to learn how to sew.  We had gone shopping for fabric weeks ago, but had not found the time to sew.  She wanted to make a dress and Marty will make a matching one for her American Girl doll.  She had a hard time understanding the concept of cutting something out and then sewing it together.  But we got on it and she was great and followed directions like a star.

We got out mommy's sewing machine and learned about the pressure foot and bobbin and wheel and all of those parts that make the machine work.

She got her bodice made - modeling it over her pj's, but it looked great.

She sews a great straight line and we got it all done except sewing on the straps and hemming.   Pictures will follow.

She had to quit so she could practice her violin.  Sounded great.  Lance and Raquel made chocolate chip cookies for cultural day at school on Monday.  Raquel and Josh made a wonderful dinner of fajitas - delicious.  Who knows what tomorrow will bring.
