Off to Melbourne

February 18, 2013 - Monday   Raquel ran the kids to school and then worked out.  By the time she got home we were packed and ready to catch a lift to the train station.  We
took the train to the airport, checked in and waited for our flight to Melbourne.  It was about an half hour late, but we still got there in good time.  As our plane was coming into Melbourne, we noticed smoke.  There was a large bush fire about 20km out of the city.  It had been started by lightening Thursday night and they still didn't have it under control.  It was hot that day - in the 90's- and that didn't help.  Once landed, we picked up our car and got directions to our hotel which is in city central.  It was rush hour, but Dale was a good navigator and we got there without incident.  We parked the car in the very narrow car ramp on 4th floor, checked in, and then started walking the city.

This building captured our attention.  It is one of many of RMIT University that are all very unique. Kind of looks like the Incredible Hulk melted all over and turned into lettuce.

Chinatown in Melbourne

This was on a small narrow street - a dragon is coming down the wall - it is made out of plastic bottles (pop, fruit juice, water, etc.).

This was in front of a church - took the pic for all our Methodist friends.

Another RMIT building - this is a technology university.

Another RMIT building

On our walk back to the hotel we found lots of excitement - police cars, fire trucks at our neighbors across the street - never did hear what was going on.
