Welcome back to Sydney

February 9, 2013 -  We got up and found ourselves coming into the Sydney Harbour.  We found a place on Deck 13 so we could see everything.   We watched the pilotboat deliver the Sydney captain on board and tug boats come to lead us in to dock.

A distant view of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge over the starboard side of our ship.

Here we come toward the harbour.

Coming into the port

We  turned and docked (backed into dock).  The green boats are ferries to Manly Beach

Our ship and the Opera House

Kenyons got off with all of their belongings as they were staying at a hotel by the airport tonight.  So they took a taxi to their hotel and Dale and Marty sat and got online and also spent a little time at the Art Museum.  Meanwhile Kenyons were going to take the train back to the city to meet us.  We were to meet them at 1:00 and they didn't show up until almost 1:30.  They discovered that the trains were being cleaned and certain tracks repaired over the weekend so they weren't running to/from the airport.  So, they finally figured out how to get back to the city and had to walk some distance.  Anyway, we finally got together again.  We took the guys to the Rocks and sat them down with a beer so they could get through the shopping that was ahead of them.

One of the areas of the Rocks is where old homes were and they have been recreated and made the plan/ rooms and elevation outline as sculpture including some metal interpretations of furnishings.  Dale is sitting in the "bathtub" of the house.

These are a 1953 and 1958 Bentleys - they are waiting for bride and grooms.

Dinner in the city

We went to the Shangri-La Hotel for a drink.  This is a view from the 36th floor.

Enjoying our very expensive drinks, but delicious.
