Sunday - Sydney Tower and Chinatown

Sunday, February 17, 2013
Sunday morning so off to Hillsong Church.  Another inspirational message - so good for the soul.  Then we caught the train into the city.  We had heard that Harry's is the place for meat pies.  Harry's was started in the 40's and was first a cart on wheels.  Now it is a little more permanent and there are several.
Ready to indulge at Harry's

This was our meat pie.  It is a small pie crust, then a layer of beef in gravy, big scoop of mashed potatoes, mashed peas that were obviously fresh - so good, and then a ladle of gravy - dig in.

Marty and Raquel ready to go for it.

Now that we were stuffed we walked to Sydney Tower - highest point in Sydney.

From the top of the tower - one stadium is for Aussie football and the other for cricket.

Gothic Church and park.  The front faces the Australian Museum (rto ight).

ANZAC War Memorial - like our WWII memorial (for Aussies and New Zealanders)

Darling Harbour

Sitting on the ledge

Harbour Bridge and in the middle right you can see a couple of the "sails" of the Opera House.

The Harbour - beautiful sunny Sunday and sail boats everywhere.  Bellowing sails on the boats suggested the inspiration of the Opera House form.

The "highest" mail box in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Chinese New Year celebrations are going on now.  The official day was Feb. 10.  It is the year of the snake.  We spent a little time just walking around.  The parade didn't start until 8 pm so we missed it.

Central Station where we boarded our train.

Grace finishing up her dress - Is Josh helping??

What a straight little sewer.

ALL DONE!!!  Isn't she cute and proud?

What a team!!
